The 2024 Euro Trip: Chapter 1 - Take Off!

Image
Dear Koko,  I would say I had the privilege of travelling with the most enthusiastic 9 YO ever on the most high-octane Euro trip ever. While we wanted to be lazy and relaxed, we ended up packing our days with so much to do, and you kept up at every step. There was never a complaint from you. I am so happy that you adjusted so fast and so well. I know you had a lot of fun, so did I. In fact we had so much fun that one letter would not justify what we did.  I had in fact kept in mind about our letters so I had kept a short journal of sorts, which I will now transfer to your letters. So here is the first in the series. Let us start at the beginning. This trip did not start now when we took our flight and set foot far away from home. This vacation started months ago when we first started planning. Each of us had opinions which were tugging us in three different directions so zeroing in one place which covers all our interest areas was the first hurdle to cross.  Once we...

Age is just a number

Dear Koko,  Never listen to those people who tell you you are too old to do something. You are never too old for anything, be it trying out new things, go on a trampoline or have ice cream. It will be the things you can freely do now which become a luxury as you grow up. There will be people who will try to put you in boxes and tell you that you are mad for trying to do these things as it is not your age etcetera, etcetera. Don’t listen to them.  So let me tell you a story, this is a story I recently came across myself. This is the story of an Indian track...

The Adventures of Hippity Hopp

Oh dear dear Koko, This year has turned out to be the worst, hasn’t it. It’s been a fair amount of time that I have written to you too. Blame it on the blur that time has been this year. The year practically whizzed past, except the times when it wasn’t trudging along in a never ending repetition of eat, sleep, cook, clean. I cannot remember how August was different from September except for the fact that we are now working from Kolkata instead of Bangalore. Yes, we have been here for some weeks now (months maybe, yeas it’s already November!). Perhaps, many years later, you won’t remember this long vacation (let’s be honest, these online classes are not half as much fun/work as school). However, this will be the longest vacation that you are getting. Truth be told, I am kind of getting a vacation feel myself. I have been told that I have become irregular with my letters to you. It’s true, sometimes I just happen to prioritise other things - it’s not fair, not right on my part etcetera,...
